Snow Leopard Treks in the winter months

Quest for Snow Leopard: Mountain Initiatives provides you the unique & rare experience of finding the elusive and endangered snow leopard. With its team of best Snow Leopard naturalist we will take you into one of the best Snow Leopard habitats of the world.

While on the trek you will also have the opportunity to stay in Home Stays and in tents in the prime habitat. Other wildlife that you will see are the Blue Sheep, Ladakh Urial and the Tibetan Argali

 

Bird watching Tours at High Altitude Wetland Areas of Ladakh

Ladakh is home to around 300 species of birds and is a paradise for birdwatchers. During the summer months it is one of the best places for birdwatching and our experts will take you on a journey to high altitude birds of Himalayas and the Wetlands of Changthang Plateau. Some of the birds that you will see are Golden Eagle, Lammergeyer, Tibetan and Himalayan Snow cocks. At the wetlands you can see the rare and endangered Black Neck Crane apart from Bar- Heeded Geese, Rudy Shelduck , Great Crested Grebe and the Sand Plowers of different kinds.

 

Nature Treks during summer months

Provides you an opportunity to work with researchers of Snow Leopard Conservancy (SLC-IT) and the Wildlife Department. The Trek takes you into the heart of Hemis National Park where you will be conducting counts of the wild mountain sheep and goats. This will help us to get an estimate of prey abundance for Snow leopard. Other predators that you may see are the Tibetan Wolf, Lynx and the Red Fox. This trek will also provide you the opportunity to see Himalayan birds.

 

Community Service Treks for school Students

We provide environmental and educational treks for school students during the summer months where they get an opportunity to see and learn about the birds and mammals of Ladakh and also involve them in community conservation projects in collaboration with snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust (SLC-IT)

A Certificate for the project done in the summer months will be provided by the Snow Leopard Conservancy at the end of the trip.
